How a race works
- Pick a trail. Any trail on any mountain can be raced, from a green warm-up to a double black.
- 3, 2, 1, go. The clock starts on GO and runs to the finish line.
- Make the gates. Slalom gates are set down the course. Each one you miss adds two seconds.
- Win a medal. Bronze, silver or gold, judged on your average speed with penalties included, so the faster line always counts.
At every gate a split shows whether you are ahead of or behind your best, to the hundredth. Miss a medal by a little and the results card tells you exactly how much faster you need to be. One key restarts the race instantly, so a bad start costs you nothing.
Race your ghost, then race your friends
Your best run on each trail is saved as a ghost that skis alongside you the next time. When you beat it, the new run becomes the ghost.
Proud of a time? The results card gives you a versus link. Send it to a friend: their game opens the same trail with your ghost in pink, your name on it and a live gap under the timer. At the finish a banner says who won, and they can send a link straight back.
Slalom and giant slalom skis
Racing rewards the right tool. Next to the all-mountain stock ski, SIKRUN has a short, quick-turning slalom race ski and a long, stable giant slalom ski for fast, open courses. Their stats (speed, carve and control) are shown in the Locker, worked out from the ski's real shape. You can race on a snowboard too.
Racing stays fair: there are no power-ups, no slow-motion bonus and no replays during a timed run. Only your line and your speed matter.

Is there downhill racing as well as slalom?
Every race runs from the top of a trail to its finish, with gates spread along the way, so long trails play like a downhill with gates and short steep ones like a slalom. Trails range from a few hundred metres to several kilometres on the Lake Tahoe map.
Are there online leaderboards?
Your best times are listed under Career, Rankings, and kept in your browser. To race someone else, send them a versus link.
What do I need to play?
A computer with a current browser and a keyboard or gamepad. No download and no account.
