Privacy policy

SIKRUN is a free browser game at sik.run, run by sikrun. This page explains what the game stores, what it sends and how you control it. The game shows the same information under Settings › Privacy.
In short
- Your progress, gear and settings are saved in this browser only. There are no accounts and no ads.
- We use Google Analytics 4 to collect play statistics, so we can fix what breaks and improve what people enjoy. It never gets your rider name, your highlights or anything you type.
- In the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the UK and Switzerland, nothing is sent unless you choose Allow. Everywhere else it is on unless you turn it off.
- You can switch it off or on any time in Settings › Play statistics.

What stays in your browser
The game keeps its own data in your browser's local storage: your progress, gear, settings, highlights and the choice you made about play statistics. It is not sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data for sik.run deletes it, and with it your progress.
A challenge or versus link you copy contains your rider name, your time and your run, so anyone you send it to can see them. The link is only shared if you share it.
Play statistics (Google Analytics)
Why. To learn which mountains and features people enjoy, and where the game breaks or runs slowly.
What is collected. Things like loading time, rides started and finished, which mountain, mode and gear, cases opened, links shared (not what is in them), menus opened, frame rate, your graphics card class and performance tier, your input device (keyboard or gamepad) and errors, plus the page you came from and campaign tags in the link you opened. Google Analytics also collects your device type, browser and approximate country itself. Numbers are grouped into ranges where they could single someone out.
What is never sent. Your rider name, your highlights or clips, anything you type, challenge links you share (or the names in them), account or device IDs.
Cookies. Google Analytics stores a random ID in first-party cookies (_ga and
_ga_<id>) so we can tell how many players come back. They expire after 13 months. No other
cookies are set.
Who receives it. Google receives your IP address to deliver the data and does not store it. The data is processed by Google LLC in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and kept for 14 months.
What is turned off. Google signals, ads personalisation, ad cookies and ad data are all off. The data is not used for advertising, not linked to other sites and not used to build profiles. There is no user ID: we cannot tell who you are.
Where it runs. Only on sik.run and www.sik.run.

- The game decides which row applies from your device's time zone and language, not your location. When it is unsure, it asks first.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat that as off, unless you switch play statistics on yourself in Settings.
- Turning it off stops sending at once and deletes the
_gacookies.
Legal basis. Where consent is required (the EU and EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings. Elsewhere we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the game working and improving it, and you can object at any time by turning play statistics off.
Children
SIKRUN is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The play statistics are the same for everyone and are used only to keep the game working and improve it, never for ads or profiling.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask about, correct or delete data about you, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we do not store a name, account or user ID, we usually cannot link analytics data to you; switching play statistics off and clearing your cookies is the quickest way to stop and reset it. For anything else, write to support@sik.run.
Changes
We will update this page when the policy changes and show the new effective date at the top. If a change matters for your choice, the game will ask again where consent is required.
